Edinburgh Castle stands on a volcanic plug overlooking Princes Street and beautiful Princes Street gardens.
Edinburgh - Scotland's capital & cultural centre
The Castle sits high on a vocanic plug formed some 70 million years ago. It has a long association with man and recent archaeological excavations has revealed that during the Iron Age, about two thousand years ago, there was a hill fort on the rock and that as long ago as 850 BC bronze-age man was also living on the rock. For those who prefer indoors, there are a wide variety of Museums and Art Galleries. With Edinburgh only 25 minutes from Bankhead Farm there is no better place to base yourself to visit Edinburgh and touring Scotland. |
