Cairnpapple HillCairnpapple Hill

Cairnpapple Hill is a few miles north of Bathgate and equally close to Bankhead Farm and like many of Scotland's ancient monuments is in the care of Historic Scotland.

Burial Cairn

Cairpapple Burial SiteIt is a good example of a burial cairn, dating back to about 3000 BC and boasts a range of features including a henge bank, graves and burial cists. Around the burial cairn is an impressive stone kerb ring in addition to some large and ancient burial stones.

UFO & Ghostly Sightings

The area is said to be an ideal spot for UFO watching with a number of sightings having been reported with the most famous even closer on Dechmont Law on the 'doorstep' of Bankhead Farm.

It is also reported to be haunted the the Silver Man or Silver Runner due to the 'ghosts' reputed ability to run at about 50mph.
